MediaShow™

A Content Management Software for Immersive Dome Theaters

We recognized that there was a clear need for a much simpler piece of software that only plays movies or movie clips, plus images or image sequences, with a capability of showing just a specific clip from a longer movie, so that operators can use less time in setup and programming. We developed a simple “MediaShow” software system that can show mpgs or quicktimes, and can run on both Mac’s and PC’s. It also can show image and image –sequences automatically, and can zoom and rotate images on the dome “on the fly”. There is a full VCR-type movie control, as well as sound level by slider or keystroke.

A kiosk version has been developed that can run on a touchscreen. Buttons can allow the user to show just a piece of the show or a complete show. In that way, a user can put together their own custom show by using clips from shows and NASA images in any order or timing sequence.

A new modification allows a sequence of clips to “autoplay”, allowing a very simple show scripting language. MediaSHOW can also launch other programs (e.g. Stellarium), automatically going to the background.

		There is even provision for multiple operators. Each user can program and save their customed sets of buttons without interfering with other operators or re-saving the shows. Single-Screen version of MediaShow" is also available for laptop users.
